In a press release sent out to media, Staff Sgt. Dan Seibel reports the two skiers, a man and a woman from Nelson, were found safe – if cold and wet – on Tuesday morning. They were due back at their vehicle, parked at Kootenay Pass, on Monday evening.
They were supposed to be heading to the Ripple Ridge Cabin at the top of Kootenay Pass.
The skiers apparently became disorientated late yesterday in foggy conditions on their return to their parked vehicle.

They were found hiking through the woods near a Department of Highways work yard. Rescuers took the pair to the Department of Highways’ office and examined by a doctor. According to the press release, police don’t know if the two spent the night outside.
