Cranbrook deer cull caught ‘non-target’ animals

The final report on Cranbrook’s deer cull revealed contractors captured and killed 11 whitetail deer despite the fact mule deer where the intended targets of the city’s attempt to reduce the deer population, reports Sally Macdonald for the Cranbrook Daily Townsman.

The city asked the contractor responsible for setting out the traps to move them after catching mostly whitetail deer.
In all, 11 white-tailed deer and 14 mule deer were euthanized: five mule does, seven mule bucks, two mule fawns, five white-tail does, one white-tail buck, and five white-tail fawns.
