Trail hospital finds extra cash for night-shift docs

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is using a boost in funding from the province to increase pay for doctors taking the unpopular night shift, reports Val Rossi for the Trail Daily Times.
Thirty-six health facilities across the province receive “$200,000 a year for rural doctors who commit to reliable emergency services.” Trail’s hospital will divide that money up across the 365 night shifts.
“Trail hasn’t had any gaps of coverage but this funding does ensure that we have something additional to offer, to attract people to come to our community to work,” said Hampf. “I think that it’s just a great opportunity and that it really does support our rural communities throughout the province.”

That is about $500 per night. I wouldn’t sneeze at that even if I was a doctor!!
