Invermere will get traps and bolt guns once Kimberley is finished with the tools. Kimberley has culled 64 deer so far and expects to be done by the end of January.
A recent council meeting was dominated by the issue of urban deer with residents voicing their support and opposition to the cull.
The public comment period at the end of the meeting saw a similar debate bubble up.
Monie Rahman — who compared the cull to the Holocaust and district council to Hitler at a meeting earlier this month — led off the session. After a prolonged argument with mayor Gerry Taft, a visibly agitated Rahman yelled, “do not vilify the deers.”

Council appeared committed to the cull at the end of the meeting. Read the various perspectives at the Invermere Valley Echo.
What’s missing from all these stories about the deer culls is what’s being done with the meat. Does anyone out there know?

How about a deer meat festival! Deer Kebabs… Deer burgers… deer strew… deer on a stick… well I guess that’s a kebab but you get the idea. Let’s turn this into an economic driver for the Kootenays, come on people deer up!
Excellent idea! Don’t forget deerperoni and deer jerky. As long as the meat is not wasted its a good thing.
