The food at Whitewater Winter Resort has long had a good reputation and the cookbook series that grew from former owner Shelly Adams‘ experience running the hill’s café is reaching unheard of heights for a self-published book, reports Liane Faulder for the Edmonton Journal.

Whitewater Cooks with Friends
The latest book, Whitewater Cooks with Friends, has sold out of its first run (14,500) beating out the Canadian sales of celebrity chefs like Jamie Oliver and Michael Smith.
“It’s a mystery to me,” says Whitewater author Shelley Adams, in a phone interview from her home in Nelson. “But what makes me happiest is not that I’m selling it, but that people are using it. It was about sharing great recipes that I had discovered through all my years of cooking, and I am happiest that people everywhere are using the recipes over and over and over.”

What’s your favourite recipe from the Whitewater books?

Favourite recipe is the Chocolate Basil Creme Brulee from the 2nd book. I have all 3 books and constantly refer to them when planning dinner parties for friends and family.
Gret recipes in all 3 of Shelly’s books. Hard to pick a favorite.
