Continuing the trend of Kootenay communities landing national and international attention, Rossland’s Red Mountain is included in the Toronto Sun‘s list of the top 10 ski resorts in the world.
The West Kootenay hill was named the best hill for advanced skiers.
“It has beginner slopes but this is a resort for the grown-ups. There are nearly 90 runs stretched across two mountains; 1,700 skiable acres and 880 metres of vertical terrain.”

According to a press release on Red Mountain’s website, the hill is one of the oldest hills in Western Canada.
The other communities getting into the national press were Invermere, and Fernie.
