VIDEO: A flight over the East Kootenay

A new video gives viewers a sense of what it’s like to fly in a vintage biplane over the East Kootenay and is well worth the two minutes of your day.

BCAA has posted the video of a flight in a 1940s biplane, the Tiger Moth. I had a chance to fly in the Tiger Moth with pilot Neil Davidson at Nelson’s FlightFest several years ago and it was an amazing experience.

The Tiger Moth has canvas stretched over a wood and metal tube frame. With its two sets of wings it doesn’t need much speed to fly. That lack of speed, combined with the open cockpit, gave an amazing sense of flight.

The BCAA’s video, shot somewhere over the East Kootenay, where Davidson calls home, is a great visual treat.
