Katie Kryski was one of 167 students to win the 2011 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship which gives recipients $50,000 a year for three years. Kryski, 26, is studying clinical psychology at Western University.
In an email interview, Kryski said the scholarship offers encouragement in the face of challenging studies.
“Not only does it offer financial security to its recipients, it provides a much-needed feeling that your hard work is recognized as a genuine contribution to society.
“Most of all, it provides a strong impetus to continue to strive for excellence at times when the road ahead can be daunting.”
