PRESS RELEASE
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) has announced that it will name a new jet boat intended for swiftwater rescues after Sheilah Sweatman, the Nelson Search and Rescue volunteer and swiftwater rescue technician who died in the line of duty last month.
“Sheilah’s story touched us deeply and underlined the commitment that we make as search and rescue volunteers,” said Marilyn Wilson, spokesperson for COSAR.
“We want to honour Sheilah in this way, as we feel quite certain we will never forget her sacrifice made helping others every time we use our boat.”
The memorial for Sweatman is scheduled for Saturday, July 23 in Nelson, BC. Read about the plans at the Nelson Post.
