Two skiers rescued near Golden

Two Vancouver Island men spent the night in the Golden backcountry after skiing out of bounds and getting lost.
Both men were treated for minor injuries in hospital after Golden Search and Rescue plucked the men from the woods six kilometres from the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort boundaries.
Friends of the two skiers reported them missing on Sunday, Jan. 30, 9:30 p.m. when the two didn’t show up after a day of skiing.
The resort did a sweep inside their own limits and came up empty handed. At first light on Monday, Jan. 31 Golden Search and Rescue began an air search, finding the first man at 8:37 a.m. They used a long-line to pull the man out of the heavily forested area.
An hour and half later rescuers found the second man in the same area as the first.
The Golden RCMP are investigating the incident.
